Randy’s Revenge Just What Yankees Need

Thank you, Mr. Randy Johnson.

Last night, the "Big Unit" did something that a Yankee starter hasn’t done in years, and that was to buzz a hitter after a Yankee (Jorge Posada) was hit by an opposing pitcher. In my opinion, what Johnson did last night, was worth getting thrown out of the game and a subsequent suspension.  The reason why I feel this way is because Randy became a TEAM player last night, and that can only bode well for the Yankees as the season goes on.

During the past few years, the Yankee team has always been a group of great ballplayers who individually go about their business and try to do their job. Sometimes, this is not enough to reach the ultimate goal which is a world championship. By "protecting" his catcher last night, Johnson showed that this Yankee team is going to be different.

Randy knew exactly what he was doing last night. He took it upon himself to show the rest of baseball, that the Yankees will not take getting hit or buzzed anymore. Last night, opposing teams were put on notice that if you hit a Yankee, and Randy is on the mound, one of your players is going to "shaved".

As the crowd chanted "Randy, Randy, Randy" as Johnson left the mound, I couldn’t help but think that this could be the "Big Unit moment" we have all been waiting for. By pitching so well in the game, and then getting revenge for Posada, Johnson won over a majority of Yankee fans, who will never forget how this guy stood up for his TEAM.

I may be making too much of it, but I honestly think we will see a more aggressive and nastier Randy Johnson from here on in. The fans are now on his side and that’s really going to help him out.

I think I can speak for thousands of Yankee fans out there when I say, "Welcome to the TEAM, Randy". Thank you for what you did for your team because we all really needed that.
